The story

Where this all began.

Yfantis Wellbeing grew out of a personal conviction: that good information about mental health and wellbeing should be accessible to everyone — not locked behind clinical language, paywalls, or the noise of social media.

With a background in psychology and a long-standing interest in mindfulness practice, the writing here draws on both academic research and lived experience. The goal has never been to provide therapy or diagnosis — but to offer the kind of thoughtful, honest perspective that helps people feel less alone in their inner lives.

The name Yfantis (Υφαντής) is Greek for "weaver" — a nod to the idea that wellbeing is not a single thread, but something woven together from many: our thoughts, our bodies, our relationships, our habits, and our sense of meaning.

Philosophy

What this site believes.

Wellbeing is not a destination. It is not a state of permanent happiness, nor the absence of difficulty. It is something more like a practice — a way of relating to yourself and your life that can be cultivated, even in hard times.

This site takes a broadly evidence-based approach, drawing on psychology, neuroscience, and mindfulness traditions. But it also takes seriously the things that research sometimes struggles to capture: the texture of lived experience, the importance of meaning, and the irreducible complexity of being human.

There are no quick fixes here. No ten-step programmes. Just honest, considered writing — offered in the hope that it might be useful.

What guides the work

Four principles.

Evidence-informed

Every article draws on peer-reviewed research, not trends or anecdote. Where the evidence is uncertain, that uncertainty is acknowledged.

Accessible

Good ideas should be communicable in plain language. No jargon, no gatekeeping — just clear, honest writing for real people.

Compassionate

Mental health is not a performance. This site approaches difficulty with warmth, not judgment — and holds space for the full range of human experience.

Unhurried

In a world of hot takes and content churn, this site publishes slowly and deliberately — only when there is something genuinely worth saying.
